App Store Updates Not Working Mavericks

I tested each build of 10.10.4 before the public release (we are talking about over a month) and never had the problems people have been complaining about. iTunes was installed and then the normal update procedures via App Store worked flawlessly. So I'm looking back in the terminal window and it says the update tool was started, then a line about error service connection interrupted. Since App Store is supposed to be part of the OSX install, is there some fix or a way to delete and re-install App Store without re-installing the entire Mavricks update? http://pgelections.com/app-store/app-store-updates-not-working.html

I ended up updating the OS and iTunes through terminal and once I restarted the app store worked again! You're the man! Getting software updates from the command line results in the same versions as downloading from the Mac App Store, it just avoids the application itself which is hanging for whatever reason. Even still, clicking on updates in the App Store shows me the two things that have already been updated (a few weeks ago).
