Though I'm not sure which device was causing the problem, unplugging the hub and reconnecting it seems to have fixed it for me. This looks to be some bug because i have faced this issue with almost every PC running windows 7 Aero Theme and the solution is to either disable Aero theme or So what I see on my computer is the alt + tab panel going in the background but it is still here. As discovered, the problem is sometimes caused by desktop gadgets system. Was doing my head in as well. No difference. This was also my problem (button on a Logitech headeset).
I would suspect a Video Adapter driver needs updating for Win7. Sometimes, the problem may go away but it will come back later.
