Alt Key Not Working In Illustrator

I agree with you here. Kildare, Ireland. i already checked my preferences and it seems nothing is wrong ... I've never EVER been glad that it was there…Does anyone know how to disable that?

Finally, it can be a hardware problem. After reading it through, I went back to ILL and now the keystrokes are working like magic. The only network connection is to a closed network. Then when I'm finished I can continue drawing without having to go to the Toolbox as my Pen tool is still the selected tool.

Re-installing Photoshop and Illustrator has had absolutely no affect on the problem.... I had removed Entourage, closed all my programs and Illustrator worked fine. Usually, hitting the Alt key brings it back, but not always.

I know that ‘/' locks the layer but you need to select the layer before it works, so you have you mouse over there anyway. Some of them do other things- some do nothing.
